Available on Android, iOS and OS X the Wire messaging app features voice calling, group messaging, and the ability to share pictures, video, music, and more. Wire says it has developed its own in-house audio technology that makes audio “crisp and clear,” built to be compatible with standard WebRTC, which will mean plugin-free communications directly from your browser. The audio quality of Wire’s voice calls is supposed to be exemplary, with its use of the Opus open source audio codec.

The mobile messaging app market is currently crowded with apps like WhatsApp, Viber, Line, WeChat and so on. Hence, Wire has to offer something additional in order to attract users.
