Kim Kardashian secured her patriotic pin-up status with a trip to raise morale among the armed forces this Thanksgiving.
The reality star showcased her charitable side as she toured the USS San Diego stationed in Abu Dhabi on November 24 – surprising delighted servicemen, women and staff.
Kardashian is the latest star to carry out the morale-boosting tradition of a celebrity visit to stationed troops and follows in a prestigious line of well-wishers from Marilyn Monroe to Elizabeth Taylor and the unrivaled Bob Hope.
The star posed for photos alongside delighted servicemen wearing a tailored pair of nude trousers topped with a khaki cropped shirt and a slick of shocking red lipstick.
The 34-year-old, who traveled from nearby Dubai for the visit, described the pre-Thanksgiving visit as amazing.
‘Just went to visit the U.S. troops at Port Khalifa for an early Thanksgiving surprise! Such an amazing experience! So thankful for all they do,’ she wrote on Twitter.
Scores of servicemen and women flocked to the carrier deck to witness the star and pose alongside her and appear in one of her infamous selfies.
The mother-of-one even gave away a cheeky peck on the cheek to some naval officers and posed on top of a tank and keenly listened while officers explained their activities on the carrier.
The star is in the United Arab Emirates promoting her latest perfume. She was traveling across Dubai and Abu Dhabi and shared several photos online inside the nightclubs and restaurants of the wealthy states.
However, clearly keen to show her softer side as well as enjoying the excesses of the wealthy emirates, she spent a full afternoon meeting and greeting American heroes.
And her countrymen and women seemed delighted to welcome their headline-grabbing guest as they showed her around.
Petite Kim trotted happily around deck in a pair of towering stilettos, listening to the officers escorting her.
She posed for selfies, of course, with the ranks against a backdrop of helicopters,.
Then it was time for the VIP to inspect the tanks below deck as she enjoyed a tour of the ship.
She flashed the peace sign as she admired the large wheels of one vehicle, before hopping on top of one for a snap – with the help of one lucky officer who got an eyeful of the star’s world famous derriere.
Kim’s visit was surely a welcome treat for the hard-working men and women, who had just returned from South Africa.
There was no confirmation about who organised the Vogue cover star’s trip but most celebrity visits to troops overseas are organised by the United Service Organizations and Kim was pictured in front of a USO banner while on board.
The charity is dedicated to bringing the famous and noteworthy to U.S. military installations the world over and is behind seven decades of celebrity visits from the beginning of World War II to concerts and meet and greets that are common practice today in many far-flung regions still home to U.S. military personnel.
Bob Hope was an early supporter of the charity and toured numerous bases across the globe until his final visit to Saudi Arabia in 1990.
However, it has often been visits from glamorous female stars that have captured the most attention.
Marilyn Monroe famously interrupted her honeymoon with Joe DiMaggio to visit troops stationed in South Korea in 1954.
She performed ten shows over five days in the whirlwind tour with stunning pin-up images foreshadowing Kim’s recent trip.
Marilyn was pictured donning uniform as well as singing in a figure hugging sequinned gown which captured the attention of delighted servicemen.
Throughout her life, Elizabeth Taylor visited troops positioned overseas while more recently award-winning actors Bradley Cooper and Mark Wahlberg have made visits alongside the likes of Chrissy Teigan and Toby Keith.
