Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has stated that no other leader fought for Nigeria’s democracy as much as he did.
Atiku also declared that no other presidential aspirant is as experienced as he is, owing to the fact that he has been Vice President for 8 years and also because of his struggle for the nation’s democracy.
Atiku, who is one of the presidential hopefuls of the All Progressives Congress, described President Goodluck Jonathan as an inexperienced leader, whose leadership has put Nigeria in a bad state.
He made the comments in Jos on Tuesday, December 2, while addressing presidential delegates from Plateau State at his Rayfield House in Jos.
He said, “All these people contesting for the presidency are inexperienced, compared to my own experience and qualities in democracy.Speaking further, the APC presidential aspirant said he was not desperate for power, while expressing his willingness to support any candidate that emerged as the party’s flag bearer.
Having been the Vice President of Nigeria for good eight years, nobody has broken this record till today.”
“Nobody fight the military, in this country, for democracy like me.
My mentor, the late Shehu Yar’Adua lost his life in the cause of this struggle.
I repeat, nobody fight for democracy like me.
For that reason, I am the most experienced politician amongst those contesting the Presidency.”
Atiku also promised to tackle the security challenges facing Nigeria by empowering the military with the necessary equipment, adding that he would create room for more recruitment of security personnel to curb insurgency in the country.
In his speech, the Chairman of the APC in Plateau State, Mr. Latep Dabang, assured Atiku that all the state delegates would vote for him because of his pedigree and support for the party. He said: “I assure you that no Plateau delegate will vote for anybody apart from Atiku.”
